International Certification & Reciprocity Consortium/ Alcohol & Other Drug Abuse (IC&RC/AODA)
IC&RC's mission is to establish, monitor and advance
reciprocal competency standards for credentialing of professionals
engaged in prevention and treatment of substance use disorders and
related problems.
Iowa Substance Abuse Information Center
(ISAIC)
A directory of substance abuse links; drug and alcohol abuse, gambling,
health and mental health issues, violence prevention; information for
professionals and the public. Plus an online Directory of
Treatment/Prevention Services.
Training Resources
The purpose of Training Resources is to provide quality training at a reasonable cost for substance abuse and other helping professionals.
Addiction Technology Transfer Centers (ATTC)
The ATTC consists of 14 regional centers that serve the entire 50 states, in
addition to a national center located in Kansas City, Missouri.
Prairielands ATTC is the regional
center for the State of Iowa with a home office in the University of
Iowa College of Public Health, Department of Community and Behavioral
Health. The PATTC also serves residents and providers of Nebraska,
Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota, with funding until 2007.
The ATTC network aims to increase the knowledge and skills of addiction
treatment practitioners; to heighten the awareness, knowledge, and
skills of all substance abuse professionals; and to foster regional and
national alliances among practitioners, researchers, policy makers,
funders, and consumers to support and implement best treatment
practices.

available in the field of substance abuse.
Substance
Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA)
SAMHSA is the Federal agency charged with improving the quality and
availability of prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation services in
order to reduce illness, death, disability, and cost to society
resulting from substance abuse and mental illnesses. SAMHSA is
comprised of three Centers that carry out the agency's mission: The
Center for Mental Health Services (CMHS), The Center for Substance Abuse
Prevention (CSAP), and The Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT).
Center for Mental Health Services (CMHS)
CMHS leads Federal efforts to treat mental illnesses by promoting
mental health and by preventing the development or worsening of mental
illness when possible.
Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT)
The SAMHSA center that has programs designed to improve treatment
services and make them more available to those in need.
Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP)
The SAMHSA center whose mission is to provide national leadership in the
Federal effort to prevent alcohol, tobacco, and illicit drug
problems. CSAP participates in the development of new knowledge about
prevention, disseminates it in a user friendly manner, and encourages
its application in settings where it is likely to prevent or reduce
substance abuse.
